Our best find in Talpa. Service was excellent. Everything home made. I had desayuno de mama Chonita. The pancakes with house made conservas were special. My wife had the machaca which was excellent. Can't wait to return.

Walking down a small street, we noticed smoke rising from an adobe house with old tiles and immediately thought: “That place has to be good.” We are not wrong. We were warmly welcomed by Iris, the owner and chef of the restaurant, who told us the beautiful story of her home. This house belonged to his grandparents, Chonita and Wenceslao, who raised their eight children there. Today, she has turned it into a small restaurant that preserves the essence of yesteryear. The original structure is still intact, with its adobe walls, its beautiful garden and an atmosphere that transports you to another era. What makes this place special is not only its history, but its cooking concept. Iris calls it “root cuisine,” a tribute to tradition and authentic flavors. Everything here is fresh, organic and homemade: the eggs come from the region, the meat has never been frozen, the fruits and vegetables are carefully selected. In addition, Iris prepares her own jams and avoids sausages or any type of ultra-processed food. Everything is cooked over wood and charcoal, just like his grandmother did. Each dish reflects the love and dedication for traditional cuisine. We ordered “grandma's breakfast” and grandpa's chilaquiles with carnitas and egg. From the first bite, it was evident that we were enjoying something special. The flavors were deep and comforting, with that unmistakable smoky touch that only a stove can give. The ingredients felt fresh and high quality, and the seasoning was just perfect. The atmosphere is another plus point. Iris told us more about her family and her love of cooking, which made the experience even more special. You can tell that this place is a project made with the heart, not just a business. It is a space that keeps alive the history of its family and the culinary tradition of the region. The price is more than fair for the quality and experience. For two people, the bill was approximately 500 pesos (including tip), with generous portions and a flavor that is hardly found elsewhere. If you visit Talpa and are looking for an authentic breakfast, full of tradition and with the best quality ingredients, this place is an unmissable gem. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the story behind each dish makes it even more special.

Very good place, excellent breakfast, that Mexican flavor is in all the dishes, the coffee is delicious, the grandmother's atole is delicious, that smell of firewood and the music take you back in time, I highly recommend it.

A very pleasant experience, one of the best places to have breakfast/lunch in the town. The house is very nice, rustic, the atmosphere is pleasant, the music, I loved everything. Delicious food cooked over a wood fire with local ingredients.
